MINEOLA, NY — A Long Island man convicted of killing his mother, father and brother in 2010 has been sentenced to life without parole.

Dario Ormejuste of Elmont was convicted of murder last month. He was sentenced Wednesday in Nassau County Court.

Prosecutors say Ormejuste shot his brother, a New York City correction officer, 10 times on June 21, 2010. Later, he shot their parents.

According to trial evidence, Ormejuste told police that he was jealous of his brother.

A relative concerned about the family called police, who discovered two of the bodies two days after the killings. His mother’s body was found weeks later in a car in Brooklyn.

His attorney said Ormejuste lived in a separate part of the house and had no idea his family had been slain.
