Pitchers Jonathon Niese and Fernando Nieve teamed up with their mascot, Mr. Met, for the May 10 visit to promote the New York Mets’ School is Amazing program, sponsored by EmblemHealth.

The players participated in a gym class designed by the students, and followed it up with a talk on how good attendance ofttimes translates into a sound education.

As a “thank you,” students presented the Mets and event sponsor EmblemHealth with plaques of appreciation in the gymnasium of the school on Neptune Avenue, at West 24th Street.
