HIGHLANDS, NY — Police say a 35-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her motorcycle, hit a guardrail and was ejected over a 90-foot cliff in the Hudson Valley.

State police say Ana Hart of Bloomingburg was riding a 2010 Kawasaki about 8 p.m. Wednesday with other riders on a winding stretch of Route 9W in Highlands, about 50 miles north of New York City. Hart failed to negotiate a turn, rode into a drainage ditch and hit a guardrail, sending her on a fall of roughly 90 feet over the cliff. The motorcycle did not go over the rail.

She was declared dead at the scene.
