A New York City police precinct is preparing for the Fourth of July — by collecting fireworks.

Commissioner Raymond Kelly is urging people to bring their illegal fireworks to the 62nd Precinct in Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood,

The amnesty day continues until 5 p.m. Saturday.

The commissioner says it’s an effort to prevent injuries during celebrations on Wednesday.

Kelly says no names or questions will be asked, and no charges filed.
