EASTPORT, N.Y. — A “modified lockdown” at an eastern Long Island elementary school has ended following a police investigation nearby.
Police said they were investigating a residential burglary and said two people were still at-large. The school is about a half-mile from where the burglary took place. Police were first called to the scene at about 9:40 a.m. Friday
No injuries were reported.
Eastport School District officials said they were told by police at about 2 p.m. Friday that the lockdown could be lifted.
Students were allowed to move around within the building. However, no one was allowed in or out for about four hours.
