ALBANY, N.Y. — A spring storm is expected to drop a few inches of wet snow on parts of upstate New York state — an amount far less than forecast earlier.

National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Montgomery said the storm tracked farther east than some models predicted, meaning higher elevations in Vermont and western Massachusetts would get more snow Friday than much of the Hudson Valley.

Still, parts of the Catskills could get three to six inches of snow before the storm moves on late Friday. A few schools in the lower Hudson Valley delayed their start times.

Light rain, possibly mixed with sleet, is forecast for New York City and Long Island.
