An upstate New York woman was arrested last week after her 6-week-old puppy died of a heroin overdose, police said.
Nicole Holland, 26, of Fulton, was allegedly using the drug herself when her miniature Doberman Pinscher named Champ also ingested some, according to state police.
The puppy died and an autopsy revealed his death was the result of opioid intoxication, authorities said.
Holland was charged with animal cruelty last Thursday and given a desk apperance ticket, police said.
She is due to appear in Hannibal Town Court on April 6.
