Two EMTs were nearly killed when their ambulance was struck by gunfire in the Bronx, according to police and fire officials.
FDNY EMS were responding to a medical emergency on Webster Avenue in Claremont early Thursday morning when four to five gunshots rang out — including one that blasted through the emergency vehicle’s rear door and exited through the front windshield, sources told The Post.
Two FDNY EMTs were inside the ambulance at the time but were miraculously not struck, ABC 7 reported.

An 18-year-old man who had been shot in the abdomen in the barrage came over to the ambulance for help, sources said.
Another ambulance arrived and took the teen to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.

The pair of shootings came hours after Tisch announced the department would be flooding the Bronx with more cops in a major restructuring to address crime there.
The move will bring “more resources, more specialized units and more leadership” as well as 200 additional officers to the Bronx’s 12 precincts, Tisch said at a press conference Wednesday, flanked by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Christopher Sadowski for NY PostThe Bronx has “carried one of the heaviest public safety burdens anywhere in this city,” Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Wednesday, as she divided the borough into two patrol commands — Patrol Borough Bronx North and Patrol Borough Bronx South.
Last year, there were nearly 1 million 911 calls in the Bronx — the highest among the five boroughs, Tisch noted.
“Calls for service have increased, operational demands have intensified and the workload placed on this borough has continued to grow,” Tisch said.
