Now prison is in the cards.

A disgruntled Queens customer who gunned down his tarot card reader because he thought she was “a witch” was sentenced to 23 years behind bars Thursday.

Giuseppe Canzani, 45, admitted to fatally shooting Anna Torres, a 51-year-old mother, with a .45-caliber gun at her Ozone Park home in May 2022 because he believed she had cast a spell on his family, prosecutors said.

“The defendant shot Anna Torres in broad daylight in the doorway of her own home, sending pedestrians running for their lives at the sound of the gunfire,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a press release.

“This senseless act of violence shattered the victim’s family and shocked the Ozone Park community. Nothing can undo what happened, but we hope today’s sentencing provides Ms. Torres’ loved ones another step forward in the healing process,”  Katz said.

Canzani, a former city Department of Transportation employee from Howard Beach, shot the clairvoyant in the neck and arm then fled the broad-daylight ambush in a Chevrolet Traverse before allegedly admitting to cops he had killed her.

“Yeah, that’s the woman I shot,” Canzani told detectives at the 106th Precinct station house just one hour after the fatal shooting at Torres’ home. “They tried to kill me.”

“If I tell you what’s going on with me, you wouldn’t believe it,” he added. “Not for nothing, I am supposed to be dead already, that’s all I know. This woman, you guys will never understand. You would think I’m crazy.”

Canzani later explained that Torres claimed “the black chief of the NYPD [wanted] to kill [his] wife,” the assistant district attorney recounted in court.

At the time, Jeffrey Maddrey was still the chief of police.

The court approved a mental evaluation for Canzani, who was diagnosed with depression and anxiety but was unmedicated, his defense attorney claimed.

Torres has a son who was working for the NYPD when she was killed.

Her husband, David Aguilar, learned about her grisly demise while watching the news at work.

Aguilar praised his beloved late wife as someone who “didn’t have a bad bone in her body.”

“He smashed my world,” Aguilar tearfully told reporters while he was en route to the city morgue shortly after her murder.

“She was the best wife, the best mother. I want to know why he did that. I’m lost without her,” he choked through sobs.

Canzani was arrested without incident. At the time, authorities speculated the pair knew each other “to some extent,” but had no idea how bizarre their connection truly was.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree in September.

Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder sentenced him Thursday 23 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.
