He was a one-man wrecking machine.
A man crashed his Mercedes into a city bus in the Bronx trying to dodge an assailant, then carjacked a guy putting a kid in a Honda, only to smash that vehicle into a cyclist and then a tree, cops say.
The violent saga began around 2:50 p.m. Thursday, when the 29-year-old suspect – whose name was not immediately released – slammed his white Mercedes into an MTA bus around Heath Avenue and West Kingsbridge in Kingsbridge Heights while trying to avoid a BMW driver who had been chasing him, police sources said. At some point, shots were also fired, but it’s unclear whether the BMW driver was the shooter.
The Mercedes driver ditched his ride and fled the scene, sources said. He soon carjacked a gray Honda Accord from a man who was parked and about to put a small child in the vehicle, police sources said.
The suspect hopped in, leaving the man and kid on the street, and drove off, eventually slamming into a 47-year-old male cyclist, the NYPD said.
The car thief then hit a tree.
He was arrested, with charges still pending Friday afternoon, police said.
The cyclist was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to police.

The incident came hours after a teenage duo carjacked a man of his 2022 BMW at gunpoint in Midtown and took it on a joyride, police said.
The BMW driver was sitting inside his car with the engine running at 45th Street and Lexington Avenue — steps from Grand Central Terminal — around 1:10 a.m. when three teens pulled up in a black Honda sedan, authorities and police sources said.
Two of them – 19-year-old Dashawn Holley and a 17-year-old boy – got out while a 15-year-old boy stayed inside the Honda, according to the sources.
The victim had his driver’s side window open as Holley approached him, pressed a gun against his face and snarled, “Get the f–k out of the car!
” I’m going to blow your brains out. I’m going to kill you,” Holley said, according to police sources said.
When the victim opened the car door, Holley yanked him out and got behind the wheel, the sources said. The 17-year-old sat in the front passenger seat.
The pair headed uptown as the youngest teen followed behind in the Honda, sources said.
Meanwhile, the victim called his fiance, who tracked the stolen car as it headed way uptown into Inwood, and cops were alerted, sources said.
When the suspects spotted police after them, they ditched the Honda, and all three got inside the BMW – sparking a wild chase in which they struck three police cars, at least one of which was unmarked, the sources said.
All three suspects were busted at West 220th Street and Broadway, and a gun was recovered from Holley’s sweatshirt, the sources said.
Holley was hit with a laundry list of charges: robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, menacing, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, menacing, unauthorized use of vehicle, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and a vehicle traffic law violation for driving without a license, cops said.
The younger teens were also arrested and charged, but their names were not released because of their ages, police said.
