Thick plumes of smoke were spotted bursting out of the roof of a historic 19th-century Soho building early Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the two-alarm blaze at 451 Broome St. between Mercer Street and Broadway, which firefighters responded to around 2:52 p.m., the FDNY told The Post.

“Units upon arrival we were faced with a heavy fire condition,” Acting Deputy Chief Jared Garitano said during a press conference after the fire was extinguished around 4:30 p.m.

“Members did an outstanding job quickly extinguishing the fire, preventing extension. This is a challenging fire in this type of structure.”

The 13-story steel-framed building, which has landmark status, was erected in 1896, according to the NYC Department of Buildings, and considered “a late 19th-century extravaganza in stone, brick, terra cotta and iron,” according to its designation report.

Inspectors with the DOB also responded to the scene to evaluate the damage, an agency spokesperson said.

Drones were activated during the blaze allowing firefighters to view the scorched, wooden roof from the street, adding that there was “extensive overhauling,” Garitano said.

Smoke-eaters were seen putting out pockets of fire on the roof of the mixed occupancy loft, according to photos the FDNY posted to X.

While the blaze has since been extinguished, New Yorkers were urged to find alternative routes with the fire creating traffic delays, mass transit disruptions and road closures in Lower Manhattan, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
