Authorities are declaring success following New York City’s pre-holiday fireworks amnesty day.
Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes said Monday that the safety program netted 1,735 explosives .
New Yorkers were invited to turn in illegal fireworks on Saturday at the 62nd Precinct.
The NYPD did not ask for names, or explanations.
No charges were filed.
