Forget the umbrella, you may need to break out an ark Tuesday, as the remnants of Florence will loop around and hit the New York area with up to 4 inches of rain.

The now-diminished storm, which was once a Category 4 hurricane, will cause downpours on the Big Apple throughout the day and into the evening commute, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dave Dombek.

“Although it’s way, way weaker than it once was, Florence is still an entity on the map,” said Dombek.

“Every now and then, there could be some downpours,” he added.

Most places will get about 1 or 2 inches of rain, and gusts could reach 35 mph. But depending on how quickly Florence blows through, some isolated pockets could see 3 to 4 inches, and that could lead to flooding throughout the region, AccuWeather said.

By late Tuesday and into Wednesday, Florence should make its way out into the Atlantic, where it will dissipate.
