When the prime minister of South Korea wanted to see a great city public school in action, he chose a Harlem charter.

Students at Democracy Prep Charter School, run by one of the top charter-management groups in the city, tried their Korean language skills yesterday on Prime Minister Kim Hwang-Sik.

“If we didn’t have amazing teachers, if we didn’t have students who worked hard, then this would not have been possible,” 10th-grader Jayleen Paul said of Kim’s visit.
