New York City’s health department is launching a flu help line.
Starting Thursday, New Yorkers concerned about seasonal flu or the H1N1 virus will be able to consult a registered nurse by calling the city’s 311 information line.
Nurses at the new NYC FluLine will not make a diagnosis or prescribe treatment. But they will be able to tell callers whether they need to see a doctor or stay home.
On-call nurses also will refer callers to clinics if necessary.
