Decades after allegedly killing a man and dumping his body in New Jersey’s Meadowlands, a 66-year-old Manhattan man has been charged with murder, cops said Thursday.

David Garrido was arrested by the NYPD in Gramercy Park around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after cops finally connected the man to the 1985 murder of 29-year-old Ricardo Brown in East Rutherford, New Jersey, authorities said.

Cops had found Brown’s body dumped on a side road near the Meadowland Complex, wrapped in plastic sheets inside a wicker steam truck on June 25 of that year, according to Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

He had been shot once in the head and strangled, authorities said.

Garrido was a person of interest in the case in the days following the murder — but cops never charged him despite finding evidence connected to the killing at his home, authorities said.

It wasn’t until this past year that authorities with the North Jersey Regional Cold Case Task Force could place Garrido with Brown just before his disappearance — with a little help from the NYPD. Authorities would not say what new evidence they had specifically tying him to the killing.

Authorities said Thursday Brown had been dealing drugs at the time when Garrido shot him in the head and dumped his body near Madison Circle Drive in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Garrido, who lives in Hell’s Kitchen, is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, authorities said.
