A New York City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of his roommate’s friend.

Luis Zeledon was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in November.

The victim, 28-year-old Andy Herrera, was a friend of Zeledon’s roommate, Marlon Montalvan.

Prosecutors said the roommates got into a dispute on Jan. 19, 2010, in the kitchen of their Queens apartment.

They said the 27-year-old Zeledon grabbed two knives and sliced Montalvan in the arm. Herrera then tried to help Montalvan, shielding himself with a chair.

Prosecutors say Zeledon stabbed Herrera in the chest. Herrera walked out, collapsed in a vestibule, was taken to a hospital and died.
