A Bronx man who publicly bragged about getting a pair of gun cases dropped — after one arresting officer died from friendly fire and the other was charged with child porn — has been picked up on a new federal gun charge, The Post has learned.
Ebrima Faal was arrested on Dec. 1 on an indictment from the Southern District of New York for one count of carrying a firearm in connection with drug-trafficking on Sept. 15, court records show.
The grand jury handed up the indictment on Nov. 24, records show. Faal was jailed on the charge.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office dropped two cases against Faal in late 2019 after the death of Officer Brian Mulkeen, who was killed by friendly fire during a gun arrest.
Mulkeen arrested Faal on July 17, 2019, with a loaded .25-caliber semi-automatic and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana.
“In the case involving Mulkeen, we asked to dismiss, because we would not be able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt,” Bronx DA spokeswoman Patrice O’Shaughnessy said at the time.
Faal was also charged with carrying a black .40-caliber Glock on Feb. 1, 2018.
That case was dismissed, though, after the former NYPD cop, John Telesca, was arrested with dozens of photos of naked kids.
Faal pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in the federal case, and was held without bail on the consent of his lawyers, records show.
Across the East River, feds from the Eastern District of New York have recently become more involved in the gun case — an attempt to combat a too-”permissive” law-enforcement climate.
