Firefighters put out a manhole fire in Astoria Tuesday afternoon — and evacuated three buildings over high levels of carbon monoxide.
The call came in just before 3 p.m. for a blaze at 31-17 Broadway, fire officials said.
Video from the scene shows a large plume of smoke swirling street-level.
Firefighters checked out nearby buildings for carbon monoxide seepage and evacuated 31-01 Broadway, 31-11 Broadway and 31-17 Broadway after discovering high levels.
The was placed under control and the utility companies had taken over, fire officials said.
