City medical examiners are expected to search for human remains where a plane’s landing gear was discovered near Ground Zero last week, a law-enforcement source said today.

The plane wreckage, assumed to belong to one of the two Boeing 767s that struck the twin towers on Sept. 11, 2001, was found near the Ground Zero mosque Wednesday.

A source said medical examiners are expected to search for any possible human remains near the area tomorrow.

Forensic investigators will also try to determine which of the two planes the landing gear belongs to.

The charred metal was found near 51 Park Place, the site of the controversial mosque project.
