An NYPD officer and three other people were shot and killed by a crazed gunman who stormed a swanky Midtown skyscraper early Monday evening and later turned the gun on himself, officials said.

The 27-year-old maniac, identified as Shane Tamura, barged into the 44-story building — which houses Blackstone and the NFL headquarters — armed with a rifle and opened fire at around 6:30 p.m. during the evening rush.

The brave NYPD officer shot dead was Didarul Islam, a four-year veteran of the force and a married father of two young boys, with a third child on the way, Mayor Eric Adams and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a press conference late Monday evening.

Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, Rudin Management associate Julia Hyman and security guard Aland Etienne were identified Tuesday as the other victims.

Funeral services for slain NYPD cop Didarul Islam announced

By Nikki Mascali Roarty

Services for fallen NYPD Officer Didarul Islam were announced Tuesday, the day after the hero cop was gunned down in a deadly Midtown rampage by a rifle-toting maniac.

A viewing for the dad of two — whose eight-month-pregnant wife is expecting the couple's third child — will take place Thursday starting at 10 a.m. at the Parkchester Jame Masjid Funeral Home in the Bronx.

The service will include a tribute at noon for family, friends and his fellow Finest from the 47th Precinct and a prayer service for family and friends at 1 p.m.

A private internment for the family of the Bangladesh native will be held at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, New Jersey.

Islam, a 36-year-old four-year veteran of the force, was Shane Tamura's first victim after the crazed gunman stormed 345 Park Avenue Monday evening, where the off-duty Finest was working as a security detail.

The deranged Tamura also fatally shot security guard Aland Etienne, 43-year-old Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner, before taking the elevator to the 33rd floor, where he shot and killed Rudin Management employee Julia Hyman before turning the gun on himself.

City, state and faith leaders mourn victims of Park Avenue skyscraper shooting at NYC vigil

By Caitlin McCormack

Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul joined multi-faith leaders Tuesday night at Bryant Park for a prayer vigil for the four victims killed during madman Shane Tamura's rampage at a Midtown skyscraper.

“This senseless act of violence, as the police commissioner and I walked through the building, we saw the blood trails and the videos. And the level of violence ... I have not witnessed at that level before," Adams said during the somber ceremony.

“We need our faith community at this moment to do something that is more powerful than any legislative agenda. And that is prayer," the mayor added.

NYPD officer Didarul Islam, security guard Aland Etienne, Blackstone executive Wesley Lepatner and Rudin Management associate Julia Hyman were all shot and killed by Tamura on Monday night at 345 Park Ave. before he turned the gun on himself.

"To lose a child, it is one of the most abnormal things that can happen in our society. Children are supposed to bury their parents. Parents are not supposed to bury their children," Adams said at the vigil.

Hizzoner and Hochul were flanked by multi-faith leaders and other senior officials with the mayor's office.

In the back of the crowd, one person held up a sign with Islam's headshot on it as the vigil opened with a prayer.

NYC skyscraper that turned into tower of terror was fortified with panic rooms, off-duty cops as Manhattan office workers left on edge

By Georgett Roberts , Lois Weiss and David Propper

The ritzy Park Avenue skyscraper that turned into a tower of terror Monday has panic rooms, off-duty cops and other security features — but it still wasn’t fortified enough to stop a deranged gunman from storming the 44-story building.

White collar workers in other Midtown offices wondered how safe they were at work — and landlords speculated if they needed to dramatically beef up their security — as new details surfaced Tuesday about the safety measures at 345 Park Avenue.

“The random selection of this target is impossible to predict and really, really difficult to defend against,” said Michael Balboni, former Homeland Security Adviser for New York state.

Autopsy results revealed for 4 victims gunned down by Shane Tamura: medical examiner

By Caitlin McCormack

All four victims gunned down during Shane Tamura's rampage inside 345 Park Avenue were shot in the torso, the city's medical examiner announced Tuesday.

Security guard Aland Etienne, Blackstone executive Wesley Lepatner, and Rudin Management associate Julia Hyman all sustained gunshot wounds to the torso, the official said.

Hero NYPD Officer Didarul Islam was also shot in the torso and his left arm, according to the medical examiner.

Tamura took his own life at the end of his rampage, by shooting himself in the torso, the examiner concluded.

All four deaths were ruled homicide. Tamura's death was deemed a suicide.

A note found in Tamura's back pocket revealed that he'd originally targeted the NFL headquarters after concluding they were to blame for his mental health issues exacerbated by chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a disease common among athletes in high-contact sports and members of the military.

Instead, he wound up on the 33rd floor, where he shot Hyman, and soon killed himself after realizing his error.

Trolls make sick Luigi Mangione-inspired memes about Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner who was killed in midtown mass shooting Monday

By Shane Galvin

Sick social media trolls celebrated the death of Wesley LePatner, the Blackstone executive killed in Monday’s midtown mass shooting, sharing depraved Luigi Mangione-inspired memes.

A photo of LePatner with the phrase “LUIGI’D” stamped in red across the face of the former senior managing director of Blackstone circulated the internet following the shooting spree at 345 Park Ave. on Monday.

“Wesley LePatner, CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, has been evicted from the mortal plane,” read the tasteless post shared on Facebook to thousands of likes.

The dreadful post referenced the infamous Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the streets of Midtown Manhattan in a targeted assassination, on Dec. 4.

Mangione has become a cult-figure in some gutter-minded circles, which valorize the alleged assassin as a courageous critic of the healthcare industry.

Other dirtbag leftists posted the phrase “CEO DOWN” and openly mocked the mourning of the mother of two who was killed with an M4 carbine while leaving work during rush-hour Monday.

LePatner, 46, was a senior managing director and the CEO of Blackstone’s Real Estate Income Trust —- a $53 billion portfolio, according to Bloomberg.

“We cannot properly express the grief we feel upon the sudden and tragic loss of Wesley,” her family said in a statement Tuesday.

“She was the most loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and relative, who enriched our lives in every way imaginable.”

The company further memorialized the loss of their valuable employee.

“Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed,” Blackstone said in a statement to The Post.

LePatner was one of four people killed in the office tower shooting spree on Monday.

Shane Tamura, 27, also allegedly killed NYPD police officer Didarul Islam, Rudin Management employee Julia Hyman, and security guard Aland Etienne before turning the gun on himself on the 33rd floor of the skyscraper.

NYC shooter Shane Tamura built AR-15 used in deadly rampage piece-by-piece -- and his boss supplied a key part: sources

By Anna Young

The assault rifle used in mass shooter Shane Tamura’s deadly rampage at a Park Avenue skyscraper was assembled piece by piece – with the critical part purchased by his boss, according to officials and sources.

The psycho’s supervisor at the Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas allegedly supplied the Palmetto State Armory lower receiver for the AR-15 that Tamura used to kill four people, including an NYPD cop, sources told The Post.

The lower receiver – which houses the trigger assembly, magazine well, and pistol grip – is the only AR-15 part classified as a firearm under federal law, and it requires a background check to buy.

“When you have an assault rifle of that sort, there are lower parts of the body, there are upper parts and different parts that assemble the gun,” Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday.

“The lower part, we are finding out, was purchased by an associate. It is undetermined at this time if he played any role at all in planning or carrying out this action. This is what the investigation would reveal. We are now attempting to identify him and question him at this time.”

The other parts of the rifle can be purchased online or in gun shops -- without any background check required.

The rifle was outfitted with a flashlight and a scope.

It isn’t considered a ghost gun because it has a traceable serial number.

Adams said a team of detectives are heading to Las Vegas – the city the shooter traveled from to carry out his bloodshed – to continue the investigation.

Tamura – who obtained a gun permit in 2022 and retained it after notifying authorities he was experiencing suicidal thoughts – stormed the 44-story building, which houses Blackstone and NFL headquarters, and opened fire around 6:30 p.m.

Among the victims were NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, whose wife is pregnant with their third child; Blackstone executive and mother of two, Wesley LePatner; security guard Aland Etienna; and Julia Hyman, a management associate at building owner Rudin Management.

The mentally ill gunman left behind bizarre notes in his wallet claiming he had neurodegenerative disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) — the brain disease linked to repeated blows to the head, commonly found in football players.

His scattered writings blamed football for his suspected case of CTE and begged for his brain to be studied in the wake of the massacre.

Adams confirmed Tuesday that the deranged shooter appeared to have been targeting NFL’s corporate headquarters, which has offices in the posh building.

Investigators are still probing an exact motive for the bloodshed.

Sen. Chuck Schumer gives emotional speech after Manhattan mass shooting: 'Courage under fire'

By Alex Oliveira

Sen. Chuck Schumer delivered an emotional speech on the US Senate floor the day after the NYC mass shooting Tuesday — mourning the loss of the four New Yorkers killed by crazed gunman Shane Tamura and calling for action.

“Yesterday, my city, the greatest city on earth, was shattered when a gunman took the lives of four innocent New Yorkers in cold blood — just 4 blocks from my office in Midtown Manhattan."

"I actually worked in the building where the shooting took place, for one summer as a summer associate at a law firm,” he said of the crime scene, 345 Park Ave.

“I want those families, especially Officer Islam's wife and kids and the families of Wesley LePatner from Blackstone and the other victims not yet named due to family notifications, to know this: You are not alone. All of New York grieves with you," he added, referring to two of 27-year-old Tamura's randomly targeted victims.

The two other victims were security guard and father of two Aland Etienne, and Rudin employee Julia Hyman.

"That's New York. Courage under fire. Grace in the face of horror. It’s who we are,” Schumer concluded.

Associate of Shane Tamura helped madman buy rifle used in massacre

By Alex Oliveira

The rifle Shane Tamura used to kill four people at 345 Park Ave. on Monday was purchased by an associate, according to Mayor Eric Adams.

"We have discovered through our investigation … that the weapon that was used was purchased by an associate of the perpetrator,” Adams told Fox News Tuesday. New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tamura bought the gun's central piece, a lower receiver, from a man whom the police will question.

The associated "also purchased the firearm that was found in the car by using a carry permit that he received in Nevada,” Adams added.

Detectives are headed to Tamura's Las Vegas home to question the person who allegedly helped him by the gun.

Tamura applied for a gun permit in 2022, and was allowed to hold onto it even after he told Las Vegas officials he was suicidal, according to law enforcement sources.
