NYC misses top-hosp list
A medical watchdog group yesterday unveiled its list of America’s best 50 hospitals — and not one New York City facility earned the distinction.
But two New Jersey hospitals made the grade — Hackensack Medical Center in, neighboring Bergen County, and Community Medical in Brick, according to HealthGrades.
It’s the fifth year in a row Hackensack made the list. One city hospital — New York Presbyterian-Cornell — just missed the top 50 cutoff, and the study found it had superior performance over six years.
Patients treated at the 50 top hospitals had nearly a 30 percent lower risk of death and a 3 percent lower rate of other medical problems, the study found.
