A Queens mom charged with killing her 1-year-old son before trying to slash her own wrists confessed the grisly crime to the baby’s dad before cops showed up, law enforcement sources told The Post.
Nicole Boodhai, 28, who was charged with murder in the death of little Charlie Ramraykha on Monday, called the boy’s father and told him what she had done before police arrived, rushed her to the hospital and placed her under arrest, the sources said.
Boodhai was listed in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center after attempting to slice her wrists with a box cutter during the horrific incident, police said.
Charlie Ramraykha, 1, was killed in Queens on Monday, allegedly by his mother, who now faces murder charges. Family HandoutThe baby was found covered in blood and unresponsive inside the bathroom at the home at 157th Street and 108th Avenue in Jamaica and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.
Emergency workers later determined the blood on the baby’s body was from his mother. It was unclear how the child was killed.
“The cause and manner of death are pending further study following the examination today; more testing is needed to make a final determination,” a spokesperson for the Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday.
Sources said the parents did not appear to be living together. The child and his mother had different addresses, cops confirmed.
Police said Boodhai is awaiting arraignment on murder and child endangerment charges.
Nicole Boodhai called her son’s father after allegedly killing the baby, law enforcement sources told The Post. Kyle Mazza/UNF News/ShutterstockA nearby bodega worker told The Post on Monday that the baby’s parents would occasionally come into the store to buy milk and water.
The worker recalled seeing a crying woman run out of the house and wave to him, and the bandaged mother being taken outside as authorities arrived at the home on Monday.
“The lady ran out of the house, and the man pulled up in the car and came to the house. I don’t know if he’s the father, but he came at the same time the police came,” the man, who wished not to be identified, described.
“I think she got cut because she had [bandages] on her arms when she come out of house,” he said. “She was taken out, her eyes were closed. Everybody was thinking she was dead.”
“It’s sad what happened. I feel terrible when I see the police running.”
