An NYPD officer was struck by a reckless driver during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Tuesday night — leading another cop to open fire at the motorist who has a history of fleeing from police, according to cops and sources.

The chaos unfolded when police spotted Winston Timberlake, 25, in a dark sedan driving recklessly on Sutter Avenue and Forbell Street in East New York at around 9:30 p.m., the NYPD said.

The cops tried to pull over the vehicle and when the officers approached on foot, Timberlake sped up, allegedly striking one of them, police said.

That’s when one of the officers discharged their weapon – firing at least one shot, according to police sources.

Nobody was struck by the gunfire, the sources said.

The officer who was struck by Timberlake’s car was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Timberlake — whose license was previously suspended — was collared and hit with a slew of charges including assault, assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, hate crime reckless endangerment and fleeing an officer with a motor vehicle.

He was also charged with speeding, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operator, and hit with a motor vehicle license violation for driving without a license.

It’s not his first run-in behind the wheel with police.

Months earlier, Timberlake was busted for speeding in Brooklyn and then blowing three red lights as cops tried to pull him over, according to a criminal complaint.

When cops ran his plates during the May 31 chase, they discovered his license was suspended a whopping 33 times.

He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and other charges.

A judge cut him loose for the May chase because the charges were not bail-eligible.

Timberlake, who sources say has 13 prior arrests, was awaiting arraignment for Tuesday’s incident in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
