The New York City public school principal nicknamed “Creepy Bill” for allegedly sexually harassing employees and at least one student has been hit with a new lawsuit accusing him of groping a teacher and sending her thousands of disgusting text messages.

William Bassell, 66, allegedly “groomed” the woman and forced her to endure “relentless harassment and retaliation” — including regularly feeling up her inner thigh and once grabbing her breast outside a school prom, according to the federal lawsuit.

Bassell — principal at the Academy of American Studies in Queens since 2011 — is also accused of bombarding the employee with 30,000 suggestive missives, contends the suit filed Wednesday.

“You know what you can do with that tongue don’t you…,” said one text in the filing, complete with a tongue emoji.

Many of the claims are shockingly similar to those made in another federal lawsuit filed last week, including that the sick behavior was for years reported to the Department of Education — which allegedly did nothing to stop the pervy principal.

“The NYC DOE has a deeply entrenched history of protecting abusive men at the expense of female students and employees who experience gender-based violence and sexual harassment,” said the woman’s attorney, Annie Seifullah — a former public school principal who was jettisoned from her job a decade ago as a result of a sick revenge porn scheme.

“I’m grateful to use my experience to challenge the system from the outside,” said Seifullah, who left her education career for law after her saga. “This is why I do this work: because the law is clear, and the NYC DOE keeps breaking it.”

Bassell was finally placed on leave from the school after he was arrested in May for allegedly fondling this educator and another female teacher in a series of creepy incidents. But he remains employed by the city as a principal, court documents state, with his salary coming in at a whopping $204,305 last year.

The new suit, from the teacher who worked closely with Bassell, was filed anonymously as she is still employed at the Astoria high school.

It describes the academy as “a wonderful school,” and notes that at first, Bassell acted like a mentor. 

But he soon morphed into a “controlling, manipulative, and predatory presence,” the suit states.

Daily text messages from Bassell quickly reached the thousands, some begging the woman for a private hug away from school cameras and for her to send him a photo of herself, according to the suit.

His in-person commentary speculated about her pubic hair — asking if her husband had a preference — and other comments about her body and sex life, the suit states.

“How would you respond if the staff started a rumor that we were sleeping together?” Bassell allegedly repeatedly asked her.

It was “so routine” for Bassell to grope her back, shoulder and inner thighs that she couldn’t recall every instance, the woman claimed in the suit.

Outside the prom in 2024, Bassell allegedly groped her breast while pretending to fix her dress — despite her repeatedly telling him “not to touch her,” the suit claims.

“During this incident, JANE DOE heard Bassell’s breathing change while he whispered to her, ‘imagine if [a co-worker] saw us together like this right now,’” according to the suit. 

When the worker filed a complaint with her union in May, her rep told her, “What has our Billy Boy done now?” the suit states.

Bassell was alerted about the complaint, making his alleged provocations of and retaliations against her more severe, the lawsuit claims.

“You better leave, or he is going to make your life miserable,” a staff member close to Bassell told the teacher soon after, the suit alleges.

She finally made an official report to the superintendent — and the police, who arrested Bassell the next day and charged him with five counts of sexual abuse.

The criminal defense attorney for Bassell, who appeared in Queens court for a hearing Thursday morning, said he denies the “baseless and vindictive criminal allegations” and was cooperating with investigations “to ensure the truth is brought to light.”

“Principal Bassell has dedicated his 45-year career in education, 31 years of which as principal, to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational environment,” lawyer Kendra Monte said. “He is a tireless public servant and family man.”

The DOE did not reply to requests for comment.

The allegations against Bassell were the talk of drop-off on the first day of school Thursday.

“A person like that should not be around students,” one dad said, while his 15-year-old daughter said she had “heard it from all the students.”

A mom whose daughter was transferring to the prestigious school said she was assured over the summer that Bassell was gone.

Asked about claims from the earlier suit that Bassell had allegedly groped a 17-year-old student at the Met Opera nine years ago, the mom covered her mouth and opened her eyes wide in surprise.

“Oh s–t,” she said.
