A New York City public school teacher was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually abusing an 11-year-old student, authorities said.
Daniel Santiago, 29, who taught at PS 244 in East Flatbush, allegedly touched the girl’s private parts and sent her inappropriate text messages on several occasions, a police source said.
Rumors about the inappropriate exchanges spread at the school, the source said, and Santiago was transferred to a Department of Education facility in downtown Brooklyn.
The 11-year-old told police about what happened on Monday, and Santiago was arrested, cops said.
He was hit with sex abuse and acting in a manner to injure a child under 17 charges, police said.
Santiago was awaiting arraignment Monday night, police said.
