Authorities say a former tenants association president stole about $97,000 from her building’s bank account and spent it on shopping trips and a Florida resort stay.
Renee Hernandez of Manhattan is among seven people charged in separate cases with defrauding the city housing department of nearly $260,000.
The Department of Investigation and Manhattan district attorney say Hernandez is charged with second-degree grand larceny. The name of her attorney was not immediately available.
Investigators say another Manhattan woman collected about $33,000 in rent subsidies while concealing nearly $450,000 in income over six years.
Some of the other defendants are from the Bronx and Queens.
