There will be four free concerts in New York City next month, ahead of an “unforgettable” Aug. 21 show in Central Park to celebrate the Big Apple’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.

The mayor said the “iconic” end-of-summer series will kick off on Aug. 16 at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, followed by an Aug. 17 concert at the former home of the Staten Island Yankees, an Aug. 19 one at Brooklyn Army Terminal and Aug. 20 Forest Hills Stadium concert in Queens. The four free concerts, part of what the mayor billed as “homecoming week,” are all scheduled ahead of the Aug. 21 A-lister-packed finale in the Great Lawn.

“Get to one of these shows!” de Blasio said during his press briefing remote from City Hall. “It’s going to be absolutely unforgettable.” 

The Central Park “grand finale” will be a “huge concert” produced by Clive Davis, and the concerts in the other boroughs will be produced by Rocky Bucano, head of the new Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx.

“FOMO alert: this means you if you miss it, you will live a life of regret it,” the mayor quipped.

“Don’t let that FOMO thing happen to you,” he added. “This is going to be amazing.”

The announcement comes after earlier this month de Blasio rolled out the lineup for the star-studded “homecoming concert” in Central Park, where Bruce Springsteen, Queens native Paul Simon and award-winning singer and former “American Idol” Jennifer Hudson will sing.

“It’s going to be one of the greatest Central Park concerts in history,” de Blasio said on July 1. “This is something you do not want to miss.”

The list of performers for the four other concerts is “to come,” the mayor said Thursday.

Those wanting to attend any of the concerts will need to get free tickets and can sign up for updates at the city’s “Homecoming 2021” website.
