NYC Transit’s Canada try
The MTA yesterday tapped the transit director of Vancouver, Canada, to run New York City’s subways and buses and make them more high-tech.
Thomas Prendergast will be charged with ushering in a technology overhaul to NYC Transit, new MTA boss Jay Walder said.
Vancouver has “one of the most technologically sophisticated transit systems anywhere in the world and is already implementing . . . many of the things . . . we should be doing here,” Walder said.
Prendergast, expected to begin Dec. 1, will replace Howard Roberts, who was forced to retire Wednesday with a $300,000 severance package.
