A stranger shoved a 34-year-old woman onto subway tracks during a distressing unprovoked attack in lower Manhattan that drew fellow straphangers to help pull her back onto the platform, police said.
The victim had just walked down the stairs to the platform of the 1, 2, and 3 trains at Chambers Street when a man in a dirty red sweatshirt pushed her onto the roadbed without saying a word at around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, cops and police sources said.

Police said other people waiting for the subway had to help pull the woman back onto the platform. William C Lopez/New York PostGood Samaritans rushed to the woman’s aid, helping her back up onto the platform, as her attacker took off, authorities and the sources said.
She was not struck by a train.
She was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital with a minor injury to her leg, police said.
The suspect, believed to be in his 40s, was still on the loose Wednesday, cops said.
He also wore tan work boots during the attack, and police described him as having a light complexion and dark hair.
