New Yorkers stripped away their troubles Sunday and basked in the glory of an unseasonably hot Memorial Day weekend.

Temperatures reached 86 degrees in the Big Apple before thunderstorms cooled off the city at around 6 p.m.

The forecast for the Monday holiday is a high of 83 degrees and sunny skies.

“It’s shaping up to be a nice day,” AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines said, noting the average Memorial Day high is in the mid- to low 70s.

The weather will be perfect for barbecues, parades and Fleet Week festivities.

Brooklyn’s Memorial Day Parade kicks off at Third Avenue and 78th Street at 11 a.m. and the borough’s Green-Wood Cemetery will host the New York City Symphonic Band at 2:30 p.m.

Enjoy the great weather while you can. Tuesday will usher in more thunderstorms and a high of 66, while Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high of 78.

On Sunday, hundreds lined up at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs on Coney Island while many others braved the cold water and went for a dip.

“Finally, summer is here,” said Khrystyna Balanets, 30, who was sunbathing with a friend and reflecting on the holiday.

“The water is so cold, but it’s fresh — we are so grateful for this life,” she said.
