Three buses crashed at the New York Port Authority Bus Terminal on Wednesday morning, leaving at least a dozen people injured and forcing the terminal to shut down during rush hour, according to authorities and sources.

The NJ Transit buses crashed just after 6:15 a.m. at the terminal in Midtown Manhattan, snarling service for nearly six hours, according to authorities.

“It was a mess this morning,” said one Englewood resident who identified herself only as Carol. “If I’d known, I would have waited because I heard they were telling people at the bus stop to take the train, but I didn’t understand why they were doing that.

“I never knew where I was,” she said. “It really threw me off.”

One transit worker described the chaos after the crash. 

“There is a lot of broken glass on the ground,” the man told The Post. “It’s a process. They have to do it slowly. They have a whole lot of police and other people up there.

“They said one of the drivers had a medical problem,” he added.

Twelve people were treated for minor injuries, while one person was taken to a hospital for further evaluation after the crash, as transit officials scrambled to spread word of the delays in the middle of the busy morning rush.

“New York Port Authority Bus Terminal is closed due to a multi-bus accident,” NJ Transit said in a post on X following the mishap.

“NJ TRANSIT bus service traveling to and from the New York Port Authority Bus Terminal is being diverted to Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station, and Hoboken Terminal. All trains will stop at Secaucus.”

Shortly after noon, the agency reported on X that service to and from the terminal was “operating on or close to schedule.”

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash. Authorities are investigating.
