ALBANY — As Gov.-elect Andrew Cuomo heads into office with broad support — including from 4 out of 10 Republicans — most New Yorkers want his former foe to quit politics, a Siena College poll found yesterday.
The first statewide survey since the Nov. 2 elections revealed a 64-26 percent favorable view of the soon-to-be former attorney general — his highest approval rating since May.
Nearly three-quarters of voters believe he’ll turn around the high unemployment they say is their No. 1 concern. Almost half say he’ll fix the state’s budget woes — finally.
And 58 percent say Tea Party-backed Carl Paladino should leave state politics.
