An elderly woman was assaulted by an unhinged stranger in Midtown on Friday evening in another random act of violence in the city, law enforcement sources said.

The 65-year-old woman was struck in the chest by a 37-year-old man in front of 59 West 35th St. near Sixth Avenue around 5 p.m. 

Witnesses said the suspect was acting erratically and also shoved a second woman to the ground, according to sources. The second victim got up and left the scene.

The 65-year-old reported pain in her chest and shoulder but had no visible injuries, sources said.

Cops reportedly arrested the attacker at the scene. No charges had been filed late Saturday.
