In a solemn visit to tragic Detective Brian Simonsen’s grieving widow at the family’s Long Island home on Thursday, the NYPD’s top cop let her know she wouldn’t mourn alone.

Commissioner James O’Neill and Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea comforted Simonsen’s wife, Leanne, as well as his mom and mother-in-law for a little under an hour in their Calverton home.

“They’re strong, but they’re crushed,” said O’Neill as he was leaving. “They’re getting as much support as they need from the NYPD. We’ll be with them forever.”
