Officer Febres didn’t need the Febreze after all.
The NYPD clarified that one of their officers didn’t recover a stash of weed from somebody’s backside – the drugs were in fact found “inside” the “pants” of the suspect.
On Thursday the department’s 23 Precinct sent out the now-viral tweet of a smiling Officer Febres sitting at a desk with a bag of weed.
The hilarious caption read, “Carrying your #marijuana stash where the sun don’t shine won’t keep Officer Febres from finding it. That’s dedication. #itswhatwedo.”
The post quickly drew a flurry of comments – with some users congratulating the cop on his bust, but the majority of commenters poking fun at the ill-worded post.
A user with the handle @lowtax responded, “thank you for your selfless dedication to sticking your hands up people’s butts.”
Another comment from @fender_splendor read, “@NYPD23Pct why are a bunch of drugs that were sitting in someone’s a** laid on his desk. That’s fu**in disgusting.”
But following a deluge of similar responses from a tweet that garnered nearly 800 retweets, the NYPD cleared up the confusion.
The next day, cops said in a statement that the bag of weed belonged to 26-year-old Kevin Pelotte. He was busted on Thursday on 106th Street near Lexington Avenue with a weapon and the marijuana.
“Four bags of marijuana were found in the inside of Pelotte’s pants,” the terse statement read.
