NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea ripped the man caught on camera this week sucker-punching an officer in the Bronx as his partner was making an arrest, saying the “disturbing” attack went far beyond “disrespect.”

The incident took place Tuesday in front of a crowd of spectators watching 27-year-old robbery suspect Yoemdy Castro get cuffed at 183rd Street and Davidson Avenue in University Heights, police said.

A man wearing a medical mask, whom police identified as Nelson Jimenez, 31, watches the arrest, and then suddenly clobbers the arresting officer’s partner in the back of the head, the video shows.

“To be clear, this is not disrespect. This is premeditated assault on a uniformed Police Officer … your Police Officer,” the top cop wrote. “Disturbing on many levels, what he should now receive is a conviction for a class D Felony and a lengthy sentence in State Prison. Period.”

Jimenez ran off, but was caught by police in a nearby bodega, sources said.

He is facing a slew of charges including assault on a police officer, obstruction of governmental administration, assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment, according to police.

Jimenez was arrested Feb. 27 for harassment at a men’s shelter in Norwood, police said.
