Convicted “cooler cop” Erik Duran was released from Elmira Correctional Facility Monday afternoon, hours after his bail was posted in a Bronx courthouse.

The $300,000 bail was secured by bail bondsman to the stars Ira Judelson after an appeals court on Friday ruled that Duran could be out of prison while his legal team fights to overturn his manslaughter conviction for fatally throwing a picnic cooler at a fleeing drug suspect.

Duran, a 13-year law enforcement veteran and married father of three, had been behind bars since Bronx Judge Guy Mitchell gave him a controversial three- to nine-year prison sentence on April 9.

“He is looking forward to spending the evening with his family,” his lawyer Andrew Quinn said after he was cut loose from custody.

In his first words since his release, Duran thanked supporters.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my family, particularly my wife, my children and my parents for all their unconditional love and support throughout this ordeal,” he said in a statement released by the NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association.

“I also want to thank God for giving me strength and guiding me through the darkness,” he said. “I think my entire legal team for never giving up in their pursuit of justice.”

Duran also expressed gratitude for his police family.

“I want to thank my union, the SBA, my brothers and sisters in blue around the nation. Your unwavering support and solidarity will never be forgotten. Thank you everyone for your prayers. I now look forward to seeing my family and fighting my appeal with the same determination I demonstrated throughout my career in the NYPD.”

He was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in February by Mitchell in a non-jury trial after he failed to convince the judge that he was justified in throwing a cooler at 30-year-old Eric Duprey as the drug suspect fled on a motorbike from an undercover drug sting on Aug. 23, 2023.

Duprey, a father of two, crashed the moped and suffered severe head trauma, dying almost instantly.

The April sentencing of the NYPD cop stirred backlash and set in motion a union-backed effort to raise funds to overturn the decision.

New York Islanders fans rallied behind the embattled officer during a home game against the Carolina Hurricanes, donating cash to the fund through a donation page shared on UBS Arena’s big screen via QR code. A portion of a 50/50 raffle during the game was also set to be donated to the legal fund.

Duran, along with posting bond, will need to surrender his passport while his legal team has 120 days to file an appeal to the state’s First Judicial Department, Appellate Division.

The ex-cop’s family members told SBA president Vincent Vallelong on Friday after the successful bail decision by the higher court that they were ecstatic to have their loved one back home for now.

“There are no words to describe how happy they are and that’s what this is all about,” he told The Post in a Friday interview.
