An NYPD cop bizarrely decided to take a jump shot in back of a Queens home while a fire raged on its top floor, according to a shocking new video that has critics burning.
The unidentified uniformed officer threw up a long-range air ball in the yard of the still-burning three-story home at 10-53 Dickens Street in Far Rockaway on March 21. Video of the spectacle was posted on Instagram this week by WhatIsNewYork.
“His behavior was reprehensible during such a calamity,” said one longtime police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Firemen risked their lives, and he thought it was a good idea during such a tragedy to shoot hoops?”
An NYPD cop decided that it was a good idea to shoot hoops at a 4-alarm fire in Brooklyn, video posted on social media shows. Obtained by the New York PostOthers who watched the video on Instagram were also flabbergasted — over both the officer’s lack of basketball skills and poor judgment.
“Playing hoops while the house is on fire is diabolical,” said Anthony P.
“Exactly what that house was missing, a brick,” wrote Flow Joe.
The unidentified police officer’s shot missed the net, video shows. Obtained by the New York Post“AI could never make a video as funny as this,” quipped Miserable Mets Fan.
It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured in the blaze.
The NYPD said it is aware of the video and it is under internal review.
