A disgraced ex-NYPD cop who moonlighted as a tax preparer pleaded guilty today to identity theft at the expense of children and filing fraudulent returns for customers.

Jonathan Wally, a 10-year police department veteran who worked out of the 34th Precinct in Washington Heights, is expected to spend 2 to 2 ½ years behind bars and shell out $5,000 to $50,000 in fines after copping his plea before a magistrate judge in Manhattan federal court. Wally, who also agreed to forfeit about $195,000 gained through the scheme, resigned from the NYPD hours after his court appearance and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 9.

Wally, 34, was busted by IRS agents in April for illegally using Social Security numbers issued to dozens of unwitting children in order to submit tax returns for clients and then falsely claiming they had dependents and should receive tax credits.

He and his lawyer declined comment.
