Police in Queens opened fire on a suspect who shot at their patrol car on Wednesday night, sources said.

Nobody was hit by gunfire during the chaotic scene that unfolded when the cops spotted the male suspect shooting another man about 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Dix Avenue and Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, according to law enforcement sources.

The man being shot at then ran towards the officers’ patrol car before the suspect fired several rounds at the vehicle, breaking a window, according to sources.

One cop returned fire and the suspect fled, sources said. Hours later, the man was still on the lam.

It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the initial shooting.

One officer was hospitalized for a cut to his hand, while the other was being treated for tinnitus.
