A man slashed the tires of an NYPD radio car while officers were responding to a call in the Bronx, police said Tuesday.
Cops showed up to an address on Townsend Avenue near East Mt. Eden Avenue in West Concourse shortly before 10 p.m. June 2 for a report of a man with a gun.
But instead of finding a gunman, officers encountered a hostile group of people, including one who told the suspect, in Spanish: “Go cut the tires. You don’t have a record,” authorities said late Monday.
The man slashed the left rear tire with a penknife before fleeing, cops said.
Cops at the scene arrested John Guzman, 27, in connection with the incident, police said — although it wasn’t immediately clear if he was the tire-slasher.
Guzman was charged with two counts of criminal mischief and conspiracy, cops said.
He has a criminal record with the NYPD, as well as with the New Jersey State Police, who charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer in 2018, according to authorities.
Police provided a photograph of their suspect, and say they are still investigating the incident.
