MANHATTAN

* Police are looking for a pushy thief who robbed a Midtown bank, authorities said yesterday.

The suspect, described only as a man in his 50s, strolled into a North Fork branch on West 26th Street near Sixth Avenue at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, cops said.

He walked up to a teller’s window and demanded cash.

The bank employee complied, and the thief fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

QUEENS

* A man and two teens were arrested yesterday after police said they were caught in the midst of a plan to follow business owners home and rob them.

Douglas Walrand, 30, of Queens and the youths, aged 15 and 16, were charged with burglary after cops caught them during the 2:45 p.m. robbery of a house on 79th Avenue.

Cops said the trio had walkie-talkies and other burglary tools stashed in a black Ford Expedition. They allegedly followed a 75-year-old man home and were attempting to break in when they were spotted.

Police said the trio had planned to follow other business owners, but the NYPD was still looking for evidence of other burglaries. (lcf)

* An off-duty city correction officer was busted for driving more than 100 mph on the Clearview Expressway in Bayside yesterday, police said.

Arthur Barber, 31, was nabbed driving a Volkswagen Jetta at 120 mph near 35th Avenue at 7:49 a.m., cops said.

Barber, a two-year veteran correction officer assigned to Rikers Island, is charged with aggressive driving.

It is not immediately clear where Barber was going – or why he was in such a hurry.

* A note-passing thief made off with more than $1,500 in a Long Island City bank holdup, authorities said yesterday.

The suspect, described only as a man in his 30s, walked into a Marathon National Bank branch at 31-01 Broadway at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, cops said.

He slipped a demand note to a teller, who forked over approximately $2,000. The thief scooped up the loot and fled.

BROOKLYN

* A man found wrapped in a carpet and dumped at Sheepshead Bay’s Plum Beach is a murder victim, police said yesterday.

The victim, identified only as a 22-year-old Hispanic, was stabbed several times in the neck and body, the Medical Examiner’s Office concluded.

The body was discovered just after 8 a.m. Thursday when a jogger noticed it lying in the weeds along a bicycle path between exits 9 and 11 of the Belt Parkway, police said.

The Post reported yesterday that police were trying to locate a suspect – a motorist with a balky transmission – after finding transmission fluid near the corpse.

A transaction captured on a store video-surveillance tape showed a nervous-looking man entering a nearby gas station, where he bought several pints of the fluid.

THE BRONX

* A 29-year-old man was shot during a botched robbery in his Melrose apartment building, police said yesterday.

The victim, whose name was not released, had been walking down a hallway inside the building on East 159th Street around 5 p.m. Thursday when Jodie Taylor, 40, tried to rob him at gunpoint, sources said.

When the victim tried to turn and open the lobby door to flee, Taylor called out to him, grabbed him and shot him in the left leg.

The injured man was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

Taylor was caught a short time later.

He is charged with robbery, assault and weapons possession.

* Police have arrested a teenager in a shooting on Castle Hill Street last month, sources said.

Angel Tollinche, 16, was busted around 9 p.m. Thursday for allegedly shooting an 18-year-old man in front of 1866 Story Ave. on March 23, police sources said.

According to authorities, Tollinche, of 800 Soundview Ave., was with several men when he opened fire on the victim, allegedly over money.

The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

* A 22-year-old man was nabbed for allegedly gunning down a man on a University Heights street corner, police sources said.

Nuno Severino was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting a 24-year-old man at the corner of West Fordham Road and Sedgwick Avenue at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, sources said.

Police sources said Severino was riding in a red Dodge Neon when he opened fire on the victim, whose name was not released.

The injured man was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh.

Severino is charged with assault and weapons possession.

* A Morris Heights catfight turned ugly when one woman whipped out a knife and stabbed her rival, police sources said yesterday.

Migdalia Burgos, 46, allegedly knifed the 36-year-old victim during a heated argument at West Burnside Avenue near Phelan Place at 6:43 p.m. Thursday, sources said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was stabbed several times in her left arm and left side and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

It is not immediately clear what Burgos and the victim were fighting over.

Burgos – who was busted about 15 minutes after the attack – is charged with weapons possession and assault.

STATEN ISLAND

* A 26-year-old man was caught red-handed trying to cart groceries out of a supermarket without paying at the Staten Island Mall, authorities said.

Jacob Jahlion tried to heist toothbrushes, meat and other items from a Shop & Stop at 2795 Richmond Ave. at 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

A security guard saw Jahlion walk right by cashiers and make a beeline for the door, law-enforcement sources said.

Jahlion is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
