THE BRONX
* A woman was arrested yesterday for critically injuring her boyfriend – by tossing bleach in his face, cops said yesterday.
Stephanie Lawrence, 46, got into an argument with 47-year-old Edward Marion in their apartment on Jesup Avenue in the High Bridge section early yesterday, police sources said.
During the confrontation, Lawrence allegedly threw the bleach, burning his face, throat and lungs. Marion was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was put on a ventilator.
A source said this was the 18th time cops have been called to their apartment on domestic complaints.
* A gunman shot and critically wounded a man yesterday on a Williamsbridge street, police said.
Cops did not know what sparked the 4:15 p.m. attack at Seymour Avenue near Hicks Street, but they said the assailant approached the 32-year-old man, pulled a gun and shot him twice in the chest.
The victim was rushed to Jacobi Hospital. The gunman fled. (s, lcf)
MANHATTAN
* A 77-year-old man was killed when he apparently jumped in front of a subway train at a Washington Heights station, authorities said yesterday.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was hit by a southbound A train at the West 168th Street station at about 8:35 p.m. Saturday.
* A man died when he fell from a Midtown apartment building, police said.
Authorities said it was an apparent suicide, adding they did not know from which floor of the building at 307 E. 44th Street he jumped. The man, 33, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was found by police in front of the building at 6:20 p.m. Saturday.
BROOKLYN
* A man died in a fire yesterday in an East New York nursing home.
Fire officials said the blaze that killed Charles Dunbar, 51, was confined to his fourth-floor room at the Brooklyn Manor, at 2830 Pitkin Ave.
He was found in his smoldering bed; his roommate was elsewhere at the time.
Fire officials were investigating of the cause. (s, lcf)
* A 42-year-old man was impaled on a spike early yesterday when he accidentally fell from a Brooklyn building, cops said. The man, whose name was not immediately released, plunged two stories from the apartment building at 237 Cumberland St. in Fort Greene at about 2:45 a.m.
He fell on a spike, which went through his calf, police said. He also suffered a broken wrist.
He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
* A suspect has been arrested in the shootings of two men on a Bushwick Street in February, authorities said yesterday.
Alfe Betances, 22, of Queens, was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder, assault, menacing and weapons possession. Police sources said Betances was kicked in the face by an unidentified assailant during a fight between two groups. Betances allegedly vowed to kill someone from the rival group, whose members included Christopher Menendez, 22.
On Feb. 4, months after the attack, Betances approached Menendez and a friend of his, Frank Dorville, at the corner of Jefferson and Irving avenues. He allegedly threatened to kill Dorville, who was not present during the earlier attack, sources said.
Betances then allegedly pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting both men in their legs.
Betances fled but surrendered to police at the 83 Precinct on May 5.
* An East New York youth was arrested yesterday after he led two cops on a foot chase and then tried to bribe them, authorities said yesterday.
The officers were driving by the Penn Wortman Houses at 875 Pennsylvania Ave. at about 2 a.m., when they saw a large group of men fighting outside and went to investigate.
As the officers approached, they saw Darnell Gibbs, 19, start to run while carrying a loaded .45 Ruger, sources said. While the officers gave chase, Gibbs allegedly tossed the gun under a parked car, where it was later recovered, authorities said. The officers quickly grabbed Gibbs, who allegedly offered them $1,300 to let him go. Instead, police charged him with bribery and criminal possession of a weapon.
* Police were probing an apparent bias incident yesterday in which anti-gay slurs were found scrawled in a Crown Heights apartment building.
The vandalism was discovered on the doors of an elevator in the building at 990 Montgomery St. at 3 p.m. Thursday.
QUEENS (s, lcf)
* An unidentified man was killed yesterday when he jumped in front of a subway train at a Jamaica train station, witnesses told authorities. The man was struck by an eastbound “E” train at the Sutphin Boulevard Station at about 6:15 p.m.
