*** (s,l) A man was arrested yesterday afternoon after firing a random cascade of bullets into the air as terrified neighbors ducked for cover, cops said.

Police said cops from the 47th Precinct responded to several emergency calls at 2:30 p.m. from Eastchester residents who hit the dirt when the man began shooting off rounds in front of 852 E. 223rd St.

Jermaine Lalor, 19, of Olinville Avenue, was later found by cops cowering behind a building near the shooting, police said.

He surrendered the 9mm handgun and was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Lalor has a prior criminal record that includes arrests for narcotics possession and assault, according to police sources.

*** (s,l) Two men were shot during an argument outside a busy Mount Eden apartment building last night, police said.

Several shots were sprayed across the busy intersection of Grand Concourse and Echo Place at 8:15 p.m. as an argument among a group of men escalated from words to bullets.

The gunman then fled.

Police said the victims, all men in their early 20s, were in stable condition with wounds to the legs and torso at St. Barnabas Hospital.

Police last night were interviewing witnesses in hopes of developing a description of the shooter.

BROOKLYN

*** (lcf) A Flatbush man was shot dead at point-blank range last night by a man who approached him on the street.

Police said the victim, identified only as being 24 years old, was shot twice in the torso in front of 1091 Rutland Road at 8:30 p.m.

The gunman approached the victim, fired and ran.

It was not known last night if the victim, who died at Brookdale Hospital about 20 minutes after the incident, knew the shooter.

*** A hit-and-run driver killed a man on the Prospect Expressway early yesterday in Flatbush, police said.

The pedestrian, who was not identified by cops, was cutting across the expressway at Church Avenue at 3:12 a.m. when he was hit by a black coupe that fled south on Ocean Parkway.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

*** A man accidentally shot himself in Red Hook yesterday, prompting a trip to the hospital and his arrest for weapons possession, police said.

Armando Wellington, 53, had secreted a 9mm pistol in his rear waistband.

When he pulled the gun out at about 11 a.m. Friday at 93 Center Mall in the Red Hook Houses, it accidentally discharged.

The bullet hit him in the rear right thigh, and traveled to his knee.

He was treated at Long Island College Hospital and arrested.

*** Detectives were investigating an incident of anti-Muslim bias against a Sunset Park car service.

The XYZ Car Service, at 275 20th St., received a letter at about 1 p.m. Friday in which “anti-Muslim and anti-Arab statements” were expressed, cops said.
