* An assailant was arrested for beating a man and shattering the car window of the victim’s wife, authorities said yesterday.

The incident began at 7 p.m. Monday, when Miguel Frias, 20, and a male accomplice confronted Edwin Rodriguez, 30, and his 27-year-old wife at Halsey Street near Wilson Avenue in Bushwick, sources said.

The accomplice began arguing with Rodriguez, with whom he is acquainted, and punched him in the face, the sources said.

Frias then allegedly threatened Rodriguez with a baseball bat and smashed the rear window of Rodriguez’s wife’s Chevy Malibu, sources say.

The suspects then jumped into a vehicle and sped away.

Police spotted the vehicle at Putnam and Irving avenues.

Frias was arrested on charges of assault, menacing, criminal mischief and weapons possession. The accomplice escaped and is still at large. Rodriguez suffered bruises and refused medical attention.

* A Bedford-Stuyvesant man found dead in his home Monday was not fatally stabbed as initially believed, police said yesterday.

A cousin found the body of Thomas Wilson, 42, on the third-floor landing of the building in which they live at Howard Avenue near Atlantic Avenue at 1 p.m., cops said.

Initially, police believed Wilson had suffered three stab wounds to his back, but they now say he sustained severe cuts and bruises.

The Medical Examiner’s Office said the circumstances surrounding the death had yet to be determined and were awaiting the outcome of the police investigation.

QUEENS

* A teenager was arrested attacking her mother in their Bayside home, authorities said yesterday.

Beth-Anne Farmer, 19, was arrested on Sunday and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment, according to a spokeswoman for District Attorney Richard Brown.

At 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Farmer exchanged angry words with her mother in their residence at 203rd Street near Northern Boulevard, sources said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the argument, but Farmer allegedly bit her mother in the back, then hit her in the head and scratched her forehead, the sources said.

The victim suffered injuries, including bruising and swelling, that were not life-threatening.

Farmer was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court yesterday, and the judge adjourned the case in contemplation of dismissal, meaning she must stay out of trouble for six months for the case to be dismissed.

* A man was arrested for raping a teenage acquaintance in the victim’s Ridgewood home, authorities said yesterday.

Scarley Dorvily, 21, went into a bedroom where the 17-year-old girl was sleeping in her residence at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, sources said.

He allegedly kissed her on the cheek and lips, fondled her and then, as she awoke, he allegedly raped her.

The girl then managed to flee, and police soon arrested Dorvily, sources said.

He was arraigned on charges of rape and sexual abuse in Queens Criminal Court that same day and was ordered held on $7,500 bail, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.

STATEN ISLAND

* A man was arrested for attempting to burglarize a Willowbrook house, police sources said yesterday.

Joseph Valente, 40, entered the grounds of a private house at Crafton Avenue near Purdy Avenue at 3 p.m. Friday, the sources said.

A neighbor saw Valente, who lives in a homeless shelter, and called police.

Cops found Valente allegedly using a metallic tool to pry open a window after he had ripped the screen.

Cop searched Valente and found him in possession of three hypodermic needles and heroin.

He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and drug possession.

* Cops in Stapleton arrested a man after spotting him drinking malt liquor, and found a knife and marijuana on him, police sources said yesterday.

Police were on foot patrol at Hudson and Gordon streets at 5:50 p.m. Friday when they saw Karol Koterba, 23, draining a 40-ounce can of Colt .45, sources said.

As the officers instructed Koterba to hand over his identification, they noticed he had a switchblade on him, as well as an undetermined amount of pot, the sources said.

He was charged with drug and weapons possession.

* An unlicensed driver was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt as he approached the Verrazano Bridge and then arrested when cops discovered he was driving without a license, police sources said yesterday.

Police pulled over Robert Bartlee, 48, at the toll plaza as he came from the Staten Island Expressway at 4 p.m. Monday, sources said.

A routine computer check revealed that Bartlee had his license suspended 15 times.

Police also learned Bartlee’s vehicle was not registered or insured and was displaying an improper rear license plate, sources said

He was brought to the 122nd Precinct station house, where he was processed and charged with aggravated unlicensed operator and several other violations.

* Police arrested another driver at the Verrazano toll plaza after he was found drunk and nodding off in his vehicle, sources said yesterday.

Cops spotted Gerard Milden, 51, listening to loud music in his auto at the toll plaza on Lily Pond Avenue at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, the sources said.

After seeing him nod off, police approached the vehicle and allegedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol inside the vehicle.

An officer also noticed Milden allegedly had watery, bloodshot eyes and a flushed face.

Cops ordered a wobbly Milden out of his vehicle and took him to the 120th Precinct station, where he failed a Breathalyzer test, sources said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated.
