BROOKLYN

* Cops responding to the report of a crazed dog in East New York were forced to shoot and kill a snarling pit bull. The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. as the officers pulled up in front of a building on Montauk Avenue and were confronted by the dog. The animal was shot once in the head and died at the scene. The officers suffered no injuries.

THE BRONX

* The 32-year-old woman found murdered in the bedroom of her Park Avenue apartment in Tremont Monday has been identified as Marlene Torres. An autopsy was inconclusive. Torres, who was discovered lying face up, had been beaten on the head and suffered several puncture wounds to her body, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. Further tests are being performed to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, cops were tracing Torres’ last movements over the weekend to find witnesses who saw her in the hours before her death.
