* A mugging suspect was caught yesterday carrying 150 pieces of stolen mail, cops said.
Tamika Huggins, 20, allegedly tried to grab a shopping bag containing a dress from a woman, who was also holding her baby, as she walked along 14th Avenue in Borough Park. A passerby – who thought it might be a kidnap attempt – got out of his car and tackled Huggins as she tried to flee, sources said.
Hgugins was also carry a bag – and when cops busted her they found the letters, stolen from neighborhood mail boxes, inside. Officials speculated she might have been searching for checks or material she could use in an identity fraud scam and charged her with criminal possession of stolen property and grand larceny.
As she was being led to central booking, she told reporters she got $50 to $100 for each piece of mail. (lcf)
* A customer assaulted a Downtown Brookyn cellphone-store manager after harassing the staff, authorities said yesterday.
Michael Booker, 27, cursed out two workers in the Verizon store on Flatbush Avenue near Atlantic Avenue at 1:06 p.m. Tuesday, sources said.
The 30-year-old manager ordered Booker to leave the store after the suspect allegedly threatened to follow staff members home.
Booker then allegedly grabbed a credit-card reader and threw it at the manager, striking him in the eye and knocking him to the ground.
Police arrested Booker, who was charged with assault, harassment and weapons possession.
The victim was treated for lacerations and a broken eye socket at Long Island College Hospital.
* A pregnant woman was arrested for beating a second expectant mom in a Sunset Park hospital, authorities said yesterday.
The incident began at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, when Elizabeth Williams, 40, argued with the 28-year-old victim in the waiting room of Lutheran Hospital on 55th Street, sources said.
The dispute stemmed from Williams allegedly ordering the victim to control her toddler and threatening to hit the kid.
Angry words led to violence when Williams hit the victim, sources said. Police arrested Williams, who was charged with assault and menacing.
The victim was treated for swelling and scratches.
* A masked bandit was arrested for roughing up a female worker in a robbery in a Bath Beach laundry, authorities said yesterday.
Sources said Paolo Errante, 54, confronted the 46-year-old worker in the Laundromat on 20th Avenue near Benson Avenue on April 23.
He allegedly got into a physical confrontation with the worker, who injured her finger.
In the struggle, she ripped off Errante’s mask, as he allegedly went behind a desk and stole money.
A surveillance camera caught the incident on tape and police reviewed it. Errante was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault and robbery.
* A man believed to have witnessed the fatal stabbing of an older man in Prospect Park is being urged by the NYPD to come forward.
The witness placed a 911 call from the Brooklyn Public Library to report that he saw a man robbed and beaten in the park’s Veil of Cashmere on Flatbush Avenue, police said.
The witness also reported to a Parks Department employee that he spotted a black male carrying a knapsack and jumping over a gate on Flatbush Avenue.
The victim, William Oliver, 61, was stabbed in the chest and slashed in the face after an assailant swiped his knapsack and radio. Police believe robbery was the motive.
QUEENS
* A teenager was caught with cocaine after he offered the services of two prostitutes to an undercover cop in a Jackson Heights building, authorities said yesterday.
Raul Estrana, 19, offered an undercover the services of the pair for $40 each in the 72nd Street building near Broadway at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, sources said.
After the undercover called for backup, cops swooped down on Estrana, who tossed three Ziploc bags of cocaine to the ground, sources said.
He was charged with promoting prostitution and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.
* A gunman was arrested for shooting a Florida man on a Woodside street, authorities said yesterday.
The suspect, Hancer Betances, 24, exchanged angry words with the 24-year-old victim on 88th Street near 102nd Road at 2:30 a.m. last Saturday, sources said.
Betances then allegedly pulled a handgun and shot the victim in his chest. The victim was rushed to a local Queens Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and awaiting surgery.
Betances was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder and weapons possession, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.
STATEN ISLAND
* A man was arrested for attacking a woman after she failed to move fast enough for a newspaper in a store at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, authorities said yesterday.
The attack took place at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the 34-year-old woman reached for a newspaper in the ferry-terminal store on Richmond Terrace in St. George, sources said.
Albert George, 48, then allegedly slugged her in the back. He was arrested and charged with assault, attempted assault and harassment, according to a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan.
* A United Parcel Service employee was busted for swiping seven cellphones in Chelsea, authorities said yesterday.
James Weschler, 29, admitted to police he stole the cellphones from the company on Travis Avenue between May 8 and last Tuesday, sources said.
Weschler was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
In a related case, a middle-aged worker at a cellphone store was charged with illegally possessing five of Weschler’s stolen cellphones, authorities said yesterday.
Police allegedly traced the pilfered cellphones valued at $350 to Thomas Conrad, 54, at TNC Cellular Communications on Richmond Avenue in Greenridge.
He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, according to a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan.
