Morris Ture was collared at his garage on Gray Street after a cop on patrol noticed Ture’s body shop had no proper business sign.
When the officer went to question Ture, he noticed eight cars with their parts strewn about the premises.
During a further investigation, cops found tools specifically used to cut up cars, including a compressor, torch and power saw, the sources said.
Ture was arrested after he couldn’t show cops documents from the Department of Motor Vehicles stating that shop was licensed for scrap collection, the sources said.
He was charged with failure to produce or maintain records, falsifying business records, and acting as a scrap collector without authorization, according to a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan.

*** A security guard at an Elmhurst shopping center helped police nab a shoplifter by slashing the tires of the thief’s stolen car before he could make his getaway, law-enforcement sources said.
Joseph Fontane, 41, of Brooklyn, was nabbed after cops spotted him driving away from the mall with two flat tires at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
When the officers tried to pull him over, he rammed his car into the patrol vehicle and fled on foot, sources said.
The officers gave chase and caught him a block and a half away.
He was found with heroin on him when he was nabbed, according to sources.
Officers then questioned a JC Penney security guard who admitted to slashing Fontane’s tires because a few days earlier he had seen Fontane driving stolen merchandise away in the same car, sources said.
When the guard spotted the car parked near the mall, he took matters in his own hands.
Cops ran the plate and discovered that the car had been reported stolen.
Fontane was charged with possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, assault, and drug possession, according to a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown.
