MANHATTAN
* Police are searching for a determined bank robber who went two for four in recent holdups.
The suspect, wearing a baseball cap and holding a bag, walked into the North Fork branch on Sixth Avenue at West 45th Street, where he demanded cash at 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 15, cops said.
He got loot from a teller and fled.
Then, on Monday, he struck three more times, at a Chase branch on Seventh Avenue at West 24th Street, a Chase branch on Sixth Avenue near Bleecker Street, and a Bank of America branch at Second Avenue and East 4th Street.
He got money at the BOA branch, but twice came up empty at Chase.
* A man was struck by a train at a Harlem subway station in what witnesses told cops was a suicide leap.
The 55-year-old man was clinging to life early today after he was struck by the D train at the 145th Street station.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, including severe damage to his leg. (lcf)
* Police yesterday were searching for an oddball bank bandit who sported a fishing hat at a Midtown branch.
The unidentified man, in his 40s, walked into the North Fork branch at 5:12 p.m. last Friday and slipped a teller a note demanding money, cops said.
The teller refused to hand over cash, and the suspect fled empty-handed.
In addition to the fishing hat, he also wore a striped shirt, blue pants and white sneakers.
BROOKLYN
* Cops found the body of a severely burned man in his car in a vacant lot in Bushwick.
Witnesses called 911 just after 6 p.m. yesterday when they noticed a 2003 Nissan Altima with smoke pouring out the windows on Varet Street and Bushwick Avenue.
The man suffered severe burns on the lower half of his body – but it’s not clear if that’s what killed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. (lcf)
* A Bedford-Stuyvesant woman was arrested after threatening her neighbor with a knife, authorities said yesterday.
The incident began at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, when the 20-year-old female victim returned home to her Marcy Avenue apartment near Union Street to find a urine-stained napkin in front of her door, sources said.
She went inside to discard the soiled tissue, then stepped back outside and encountered Irma Alvarez, 42, holding another urine-drenched napkin.
Alvarez allegedly pulled a knife and charged at the victim, who slammed the door shut.
Alvarez, who had been in a previous flap with the victim, allegedly pounded and dented the door.
The victim called 911 and Alvarez was arrested on charges of menacing, criminal mischief and weapons possession.
* A Bay Ridge man was arrested for attacking an acquaintance, authorities said yesterday.
Sources said Brian Boshell was intoxicated as he spoke with a 40-year-old woman at 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on June 17.
Boshell became enraged, grabbed the woman by the hair and smashed a beer bottle over her head, sources said.
He then allegedly bashed her head against a phone booth.
The victim managed to flee and went to Lutheran Hospital, where she was treated for facial scratches and cuts.
For reasons not immediately clear, the victim did not report the incident to police until Aug. 14.
Cops spotted Boshell Tuesday and arrested him. He was charged with assault, menacing and weapons possession.
THE BRONX
* A teenager was shot dead early yesterday after arguing with a gunman on a Morris Heights street, police said.
The 17-year-old victim, whose name was not released pending family notification, clashed with the unidentified man at West Burnside Avenue and Loring Place at 12:04 a.m., police said.
It was unclear what sparked the argument that led to the suspect pulling a gun, shooting the victim and fleeing.
The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. Police said the teen victim had a criminal history.
QUEENS
* Two suspects offered cops a $2,000 bribe after being caught with bags of marijuana in Flushing, authorities said yesterday.
Cops spotted Saki Khatana, 26, behind the wheel of a 2002 BMW with Oliver Lopez sitting in the passenger’s seat on 155th Street near Sanford Avenue at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, sources said.
The officers witnessed Lopez, 23, allegedly stuff bags of pot into a duffel bag, sources said.
When they placed Khatana under arrest, he allegedly gave a fake name and date of birth.
He then allegedly tried to bribe the officers, offering them $1,000 apiece.
In the meantime, Lopez allegedly fled into his nearby home and tossed the duffel bag of marijuana into a bathtub.
When cops caught up and recovered the pot, Lopez also allegedly offered money to the police.
Both suspects were charged with bribery and marijuana possession.
STATEN ISLAND
* A reckless driver was arrested in Midland Beach after leading cops on a high-speed chase, authorities said yesterday.
Jason Witt, 25, was speeding along Midland Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, sources said.
After nearly barreling into pedestrians, Witt drove up onto a curb and swerved back into the street.
Police pursued the speed demon along Father Capodanno Boulevard to Seaview Avenue, where they pulled Witt over, sources said.
He was charged with reckless endangerment and reckless driving, said a spokesman for DA Daniel Donovan.
